School Rules & Expectations Visual Cue – Free Social Narrative

If you work with learners who need extra help in learning school rules and expectations, this resource is for you! This is a free social narrative visual cue created for students to provide positive behavior strategies. This is ideal for any preschool or autism classroom!

• This is a one page social narrative with approximately ten lines of text, with accompanying pictures. Visual cues are a great way to teach skills to early learners!

• The story explains that in school there are rules such as: staying in class, keeping hands to self, and keeping an indoor voice. Strategies for getting upset include: asking for help, asking for a break, asking for a drink, or taking deep breaths.

• Reading the story to your learner when they are calm can teach these concepts proactively!

• Remember that behavior change does not happen overnight. Practice, practice, practice this skill using modeling and positive reinforcement!
